London Eye, 2009
Work shortlisted for The Renaissance Arts Prize 2009, London.
Theme: Back to The Futurism: Art is a cerebral secretion capable of exact calibration?
This is the first continuous image I produced. It is greatly inspired by the movement of Futurism so the choice of the panoramic wheel, introduced to Europe for the first time during the Exposition Universelle of Paris in 1900, is an homage to height, speed, mechanics and technological innovation. The structure of the London Eye, with its metallic arms that stretch and cross one with the other, introduces in the picture an element of Lines of Force. Multiple exposures and the structure of the image itself suggest the concept of the persistence of the image on the retina.
