The Sea of Love, 2009. Diptych
The Sea of Love is an installation where the two long images are opposite to one another (The Sea of Love I on the right and the Sea of Love II on the left) and the spectator walks within them.
One of the characteristics of these pictures is that they have a beginning and an end, like human experiences, and in moving them from the right to the left, the beginning point becomes the end and vice versa. This doesn’t happen with a normal image and contributes to create the feeling of the passing of the time.
The usual comment of the people who saw the images (for example at the exhibition ‘The Rose Art Project’) is that The Sea of Love ‘feels musical’. This is in part due to the length of the installation and to the fact that the audience replays in its mind the typical noises that can be heard on a beach. On top of that, the line of the horizon on the side of the sea and on the side of the beach reminds of a pentagram where people and umbrellas are the notes.
