In An Old Memory Box - 2007
Some cigarettes from when you used to smoke,
Some old dried flowers in a diary from high school,
Some photos of ex lovers...
A toy car from when you were a child.
And my excruciating times
The collection talks about the objects that each of us has in a hypothetical memory box. The ‘box’ is the memory itself and the objects are emotions and experiences of our past.
All the objects/experiences are pictured dead or at least still (the toy-car is upside-down, the cigarettes are stubbed out, the faces are statues and the shadow of the flower is in reality the shadow of a dried up, dead flower), without the possibility to be again part of our lives. Nontheless they still burn, as all the experiences of our past are part of what we are in the present.
The last image is the only one with a title and it is called “Excruciating Times”
